Side-by-side conversations

You can open two conversations at once, side by side: looking at sales in one while asking about collections in the other. Each pane has its own question box, documents and canvas; one does not wait while the other answers.

Opening side by side​

  • Drag a conversation from the sidebar to the right edge of the conversation area; a Yanda aç (Open beside) target appears. Drop it and the screen splits. Dropping on the rest of the area opens it there (Burada aç, Open here).
  • Or click the conversation while holding ⌥ (Alt on Windows).
  • Or choose Yan yana aç (Open side by side) in the conversation's menu.
  • To open a new conversation beside, use the Yan sohbet (Side chat) button in the top bar while one conversation is open.

On a split screen, dragging a conversation onto a pane opens it in that pane (Bu bölmede aç, Open in this pane). The same conversation does not open in two panes; if it is already on screen, its pane comes forward.

The active pane​

The pane you last clicked is the active pane, marked by a gold line under its heading. A conversation opened from the sidebar, ⌘ ⇧ O, ⌘ / and Esc go to the active pane.

Drag the divider between the panes to change their widths.

Closing a pane​

Bölmeyi kapat (Close pane, ×) in the pane's heading. If an answer is coming in, it is stopped and a Yanıt durduruldu. (Answer stopped.) notice appears; Sohbeti aç (Open the conversation) takes you back to it.

The layout (which conversations and canvases are open) lives in the address bar; refresh the page and the same layout comes back.

Screen width

Side-by-side view works in windows 1024 pixels wide or more. In a narrower window, Yan yana aç opens the conversation on its own; if the window narrows, the pane that is not active closes.

Question timeline​

In a conversation with three or more questions, a vertical strip appears at the right edge of the conversation area (Soru zaman çizelgesi, Question timeline). Each question is a dot:

  • Hover to see the start of the question, its date and time.
  • Click to jump to that question.
  • Questions that produced a canvas, a table or a document source carry a small icon.
  • The question you are reading is highlighted.

With the keyboard: move onto the strip, use ↑ / ↓, and Enter to jump. The strip is not shown on phones (screens narrower than 640 pixels).
